Fastnet itself is a beautiful, and iconic swim that takes place in the shadow of the majestic and Fastnet Rock Lighthouse which is an historic landmark. When I saw a picture of the lighthouse and did a little more research about the swim, I knew that I wanted the opportunity to swim Fastnet.
The swim itself is a challenge with currents and temperature variations, but it is a challenge that is well worth the effort. And, of course, there is the bonus of the incredible sea life that usually accompanies you on this swim. I had a Minke whale following me for a few minutes!
This is one of my favourite swims as it is not just a swim but also an adventure.
I felt very safe with such a professional crew…. Nathan, Noel and Kieran were very welcoming and extremely supportive. I appreciated their constant communication throughout the year leading up to the swim and being so patient with all my swimmer questions.
