My name is Maeve Mulcahy and on Friday 1st September 2017 I embarked on my first solo long distance swim from Fastnet lighthouse to Baltimore.
I couldn’t have asked for a better day. I started off at around 7am in the morning in beautiful conditions- the sun was out; the skies were blue and the water warm. My pilot Kieran Collins on Radiance and my crew, Anne Sheehy and Eoin Lowry looked after me so well during my swim.
To swim in the beautiful clear waters was magical. I am very proud of my achievement that day as I proved that the “older” “slower” swimmer can also realise their dream.
The support I received from the Fastnet Swim team was unreal and I would highly recommend this swim.
